I absolutely love Emily Von Euw’s blog This Rawsome Vegan Life. Her recipes are simple and amazingly delicious! I made some rawsome vegan granola bars this weekend to take on our upcoming camping trip. I don’t know how they’ll fare in the cooler or if they’ll get too crumbly. In any case, I’m going to post my adaptation of her recipe soon but in the meantime check out the original.
Emily’s blog is unique in that there is a lack of image-crafting going on. Her writing is completely tangential and messy and colloquial. You can tell she writes her posts in the moment, which makes the relationship between the reader and the author feel more genuine. Not to mention, she’s refreshingly honest when it comes to her mental health struggles and world-views.
I am not always on the same page as Emily but I respect the fact that she’s unafraid to state her opinion. I really admire her willingness to share about her mental health issues. The stigma surrounding mental illness silences so many voices that need to be heard. It’s been proven time and time again that people who feel they have a support system, people who feel less isolated, will have a better chance of overcoming challenges. Through her writing, Emily is paving the way for others to share their struggle and potentially lighten their load. She also makes great music, podcast and other recommendations so you can follow along on her journey to being the best version of herself!
Of course it’s her indulgent raw vegan desserts and authenticity that keep me coming back again and again. She’s certainly identified the strong connection between our mental health, physical well-being and nutrition. Love yourself, eat chocolate, wear your heart on your sleeve. That’s pretty much Rawsome Vegan Life in a nutshell. Go support this lovely lady’s work!
